"Spike Birthday" is the twenty-seventh episode of The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show written by Jack Hanrahan.
Synopsis[]
Plot[]
Spikes "birthday grub" is set out on the table, but before Spike can have it, he's dragged off by his owner for his birthday makeover. He places Tom in charge of making sure nothing happens to the food while he's gone.
Jerry tosses the steak to the fish. Tom at first teases one with it after he was able to grab it back from him, but then the fish gets ahold of it again and leaves nothing but the bone. Jerry next tosses around the cake, and it ends up splatting in Tom's face.
Tom has to recreate the food. He saws a log to create a wooden disk he paints as the new "steak". He thinks he's finished, but Jerry shows him the clock, and that there's only five minutes left until Spike returns. He then remembers he still has to replace the cake. He frantically tries to reshape the crushed cake material, then realizes he can swipe the wheels from a wagon to give it the form of a cake.
He gets the new "grub" back on the table just in time, as Spike and the owner arrive. (Spike angrily wipes the gaudy red makeup from his face). Spike begins chomping away at the "steak", causing Tom to fall off of the stool he's sitting on. Next, he begins eating the "cake". Tom now laughs, but then suddenly, Spike decides to "share" it with him, and forces him eat some too. We close out on both of them chewing away on the inedible matter.
