The Snowmen are snow soldiers were just snowmen until magic hats landed on them. They could absorb snowballs to a limit. They could shoot snowballs from their hands. More snow made them bigger. At the end of the Tom and Jerry Tales episode "Snow Brawl," Tom rose the temperature by wearing a magic hat while flipping through a calendar, melting all of them.
